Week 5: Nodes, Mathematical Concepts

In class, I showed you guys how to use nodes to represent the concept of infinity.

For homework, answer the following:

QUESTION: Give an example of a mathematical concept that could be demonstrated by Inkscape. Please be original – do not copy an example from class, or that has already been posted by your classmates on the blog.

 Thanks!

  1. Inkscape could be used for exploring tessellations in the maths curriculum. A mathematical concept that could be demonstrated by Inkscape could be to make a Marje Rhine Heptiamond. A heptiamond is a figure made of seven equilateral triangles joined edge to edge. There are 24 such figures, not distinguishing reflections and rotations.

  2. A mathematical concept that could be displayed on Inkscape could be the area of a circle. You could make a poster of the formula for the area and a picture of the circle and its radius.

  3. A mathematical concept that could be displayed on Inkscape could be dilation. You could type the formula and then make an object and you could shrink it or expand it

  4. A Mathematical Concept that can be good on inkscape would be factorlization, you can make a tree with number like 42 and you would have to see what number goes into it and if the number keep going on & on.

  5. A mathematical concept that can be demonstrated on Inkscape is rotations. You can make a shape or a drawing and then rotate it several degrees clockwise or anti-clockwise! For example you can rotate an image 90 degrees clockwise.

  6. Mathematical concept could be Rotational Symmetry.Everytime you turn the amount of degrees a circle will still be symetrical with its other half
